The Best Headphones For College

Published by TechReviews on

Are you interested in studying and concentrating on your tasks without distractions? Do you like to enjoy music, listen to the radio or fully immerse yourself in an audiobook? Do you need to make calls with your colleagues and prevent external noise from making it impossible to understand what they are saying?

College life poses some unique needs and challenges for your headphones. You might want to catch up on podcasts or listen to music while walking to class. Then you might want to use the same headset while you’re out exercising, or when you need to block out intrusive noises while you’re studying.

Since college life is challenging, we’ve focused on a few important qualities. We’ve taken into account that being a student is already expensive enough, so we’re keeping an eye on budget options.

Regardless of your needs, all of the headphones here will offer you a great audio experience throughout your college days.

Bose QuietComfort 35 II

The Bose QuietComfort 35 II are great headphones for commuting or travel. They’re easy-to-use, comfortable, and not too bulky. Their ANC works extremely well and does a great job of blocking out the low engine rumbles from a bus or plane. Unfortunately, they leak a fair amount of audio and may bother the person sitting next to you on a plane if you listen to loud music. On the upside, their 20-hour battery life is great, and should easily last even the longest of travel days.

JLab Audio JBuds

The JLab Audio JBuds Air Truly Wireless are alright for mixed-use. They’re fairly comfortable, portable, and stable. They don’t reduce low noise like bus or plane engines by much, but they do a better job of cutting chatter. However, these earbuds aren’t the best for neutral listening as they have overemphasized bass and uneven treble. They also aren’t very suitable for wireless gaming as they have high latency.

Skullcandy Crusher

Average mixed-usage headphones. The Crusher Wireless have a great battery life and a decent but overly bass-heavy sound. They also have a better build quality than all the other Skullcandy headphones we’ve tested so far, and they’re fairly easy to use. Unfortunately, they’re quite tight on larger heads and do not block enough noise for very noisy environments like those involved in commute and travel. They also have a bit too much latency, like most Bluetooth headsets, to be suitable for watching a lot of video content and gaming.

Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones WH1000XM3

Great for commuting. The Sony WH-1000XM3 have one of the best isolation we’ve measured and should block the ambient noise of most commutes and noisy environments, especially if you have a bit of music playing in the background. They also have easy-to-use controls and a long 27-hour battery life that should be more than enough for long flights and most commutes.

Anker Soundcore Life Q20

The Anker Soundcore Life Q20 are alright headphones for mixed usage. Their sound profile is fairly well-suited for a wide range of genres, but their ANC isn’t the best for blocking out the engine rumble or buses or planes, though it does an excellent job at blocking out background speech. Their battery life is very good, and should last almost an entire work week. They’re also quite comfortable, and you should be able to wear them for extended periods without feeling any fatigue.

Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earphones

hey are the most sincerely and comprehensively new Beats product since the Apple takeover, and they are a triumph. The Doctor’s headphone elves have been quietly busy, and the first true wireless Beats earphones happen to also be the best Beats headphones of any size or kind. They don’t come cheap. However, the Powerbeats Pro deliver numerous advantages over Apple’s cheaper and simpler AirPods, and those upgrades totally validate the Beats price premium.

JBL TUNE 750BTNC

The lightweight over-ear design offers maximum comfort and sound quality while ready to travel everywhere you go with its compact foldable competence 15 hours of battery life which recharge in only 2 hours enables noise-free wireless playback Allowing connection with two Bluetooth devices simultaneously the multipoint connection makes sure you won’t miss a call on your phone while streaming videos on your tablet Keep your music playing endlessly with the included detachable audio cable which extends the noise-cancellation capability up to 30 hours JBL TUNE 750BTNC comes in various colors matching your personal style
